The very popular btjunkie site has abruptly shut down on Sunday night…for good.
After seven years the BitTorrent search engine has pulled the plug and its founders have decided to retire before things get out of control.
Ranked as one of the top 5 BitTorrent search engines on the web, the site has voluntarily shut down. If you go to btjunkie.org, a note will greet you saying that:
“The decision does not come easy, but we’ve decided to voluntarily shut done. We’ve been fighting for years for your right to communicate, but it’s time to move on.”
After The Pirate Bay and the Megauploads events, torrent and file sharing sites are under pressure and I reckon that unfortunately we’ll see more victims in the near future.
