Earlier this week Schreer Delights launched a new line of amazing-looking Apple inspired iPhone 4 cases, and only 48 hours later they’ve had to halt the sales due to overwhelming response.
The really cool cases, going for $45 a pop, included the original click wheel iPod, a retro Macintosh, the original iMac, and the Graphite G4 tower. Several blogs featured the new cases and some sites claimed that Apple would have sued the company for using their designs. That hasn’t happened yet.
“Thanks again to all who ordered the Apple inspired iPhone cases. The response was overwhelming.” said Don Schreer on the company’s website. “There was so much interest in the last 48 hours that we were concerned that we would be unable to keep up with demand. Because of the response, we took those items off the blog so that we could figure out some production issues.”
In a society where people still love the look of retro stuff, these retro cases are protecting the super-duper fast and modern devices within their backward look. A nice contrast that judging by the huge demand, users seem to love.
Apple may eventually create legal pressure on the company to shut down the sales of the retro cases, but the huge demand will still remain and we’ll probably see within the next few days more similar cases coming out of China.
Schreer Delights expects to fill all orders received in the order they were placed. A date for case sales to resume has not yet been announced.
